Meet Tobias Pinckney

Tobias Pinckney is a PhD student in Political Science at Claremont Graduate University with a focus in United States governmental institutions and comparative politics; and a member of Primm Tabernacle African-American Methodist Episcopal Church. 


In the area of public service, Tobias graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Delaware with a major in Political Science and a minor in English. After graduating from the University of Chicago Law School, Tobias taught Logic, Business Law, Criminal Law, Administrative Law, and Business Ethics at Medgar Evers College in Brooklyn for 13 years and is still a member of the New York Bar. 


In the area of Biblical Studies, Tobias graduated with a Master of Arts in Religion from Colgate-Rochester/Crozer Divinity School in 2005 and a Master of Divinity from Duke Divinity School in 2023. In 2024, Tobias presented a paper at the Society of Biblical Literature’s Annual Meeting in the Section for Slavery, Resistance, and Freedom entitled “Embedded Old Testament Tools for Setting Slaves Free.” Currently, Tobias edits Worship and Healing Magazine.
